The 44-year-old is the highest paid actor and the semi-retired professional wrestler is producing as well as starring in a remake of the 1995 Robin Williams classic.
As filming got under way, the WWE star gathered all the cast and crew of the film to be blessed by a priest - known locally in Hawaii as Kahu.
Cordell Keka, the priest visiting the set, reportedly blessed the cast and crew with "a powerful aloha spirit of laughter, enjoyment and love".
In a lengthy post on his social media, The Rock said he wanted to celebrate the number of people it takes to create a good film and make sure everyone emembered the 'joy, laughter and fun' it would bring to families.
He said: "I often talk about mana (spirit) with you guys and the mana in this room/in this moment was extremely powerful - it can take your breath away and give you goosebumps like crazy."
"Our Kahu eloquently spoke and reminded us that even though our faces are the ones on screen, it takes an AMAZING CREW OF EVERYONE to make this movie work."
Filming for 'Jumanji' is now underway and also stars Jack Black and Kevin Hart.
