Teenager charged in connection with Euston church shooting

by Sophie Drew

A teenager has been charged as part of an investigation into a drive-by shooting at a church in Central London.

Mourners had gathered outside the church, in Euston, as part of a funeral when the perpetrator fired from a moving car.

Four women and two girls sustained non-life threatening injuries during the January attack outside St Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, on Pheonix Road.

One woman remains in hospital.

Alrico Nelson Martin, 19, from Kilburn in east London, has been charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life.

Two other men, aged 22 and 23, have been arrested for conspiracy to murder. They remain in custody.

A 22-year-old man from Barnett was arrested in January, but has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The victims had been attending the joint-funeral of 20-year-old Sara Sanchez and her mother Fresia Calderon.

Sara died of leukaemia following a three-year battle. She died in November, the same month her mother died of a rare blood clot after flying into Heathrow Airport.
