Revd Nadim Nassar, who lives in the UK, has been speaking as fresh talks have been held today between United Nations (UN) and Syrian opposition negotiators in Geneva, Switzerland.
Speaking to Premier, Revd Nassar said: "As a Syrian and as a priest, it was appalling for me to see how slow the whole process of dialogue has been concerning Syria."
The UN's Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura is hosting today's talks and shall be focusing on aspects of a peace plan which include a transitional government, a new constitution and, later, elections.
Negotiators representing Syria's president, Bashar al-Assad are not due to arrive to the talks in Switzerland until Friday.
Meanwhile, parliamentary elections being held in government-controlled parts of Syria today are being branded a sham by Western leaders which some say undermines the discussions in Geneva.
There's also concern a recent spike in violence could damage February's landmark ceasefire deal which was endorsed by the United States and Russia.
