The Sudanese woman was being held on death row for refusing to renounce her Christian faith when she had the baby whilst her legs were chained together.
In an interview with CNN the 27-year-old said doctors fear the child may be disabled. "Something has happened to the baby."
"I don't know in the future whether she'll need support to walk or not," she said.
The mother of two is currently at the US embassy after being arrested as she tried to leave Sudan following her initial release.
John Raymond Jones who's the Sudan Campaigner at Amnesty International told Premier's Antony Bushfield on the News Hour that Sudan now has serious questions to answer over the treatment she received while in custody.
Meriam Ibrahim was trying to leave the country with her husband and two children after her death sentence for apostasy was overturned in June.
Ms Ibrahim attempted to use South Sudanese documents to leave the country for the United States, which Sudan say are not legal and were forged. But the mother of two has denied any wrong doing.
"To be honest, I'm really miserable," she said. "I left prison to bring together my children and settle down.
"I found myself in jail today and tomorrow and now there are protests against me in the streets.
"How can my paperwork be wrong? "My paperwork came from the Embassy. It's 100 per cent correct and it was approved by the South Sudan ambassador and the American ambassador.
"It's my right to use the papers and have a South Sudanese passport because my husband is a South Sudanese citizen.
"He has an American passport and South Sudanese passport. I never forged any papers."
In May the 27-year-old was found guilty of abandoning the Islamic faith and sentenced to death and 100 lashes.
Mrs Ibrahim was brought up as an Orthodox Christian by her mother because her Muslim father wasn't involved in her life.
But under Sudanese law she was considered to have the same religion as her dad and was accused of converting, which is illegal.
After widespread international condemnation of the sentence she was released on 23rd June by an appeal court but stopped the next day as she attempted to fly to the United States.
