Steve Cox has resigned from his role as chair of the Christians in Media charity after a decade of leadership, according to The Christian Post.
Lani Charlwood, who has been serving as a trustee and previously worked as the executive director at New Wine, has now assumed leadership following a scheduled trustee meeting on 1st July.
Under Cox's guidance, Christians in Media, formerly known as theMediaNet and an extension of the Church and Media Network, experienced significant growth. Cox's background in senior communication roles with organisations like the World Evangelical Alliance and the Council of World Mission allegedly contributed to this progress.
The outlet reported that during Cox's tenure, Christians in Media undertook several key initiatives such as rebranding, launching a mentoring programme for youth interested in media and faith, initiating online prayer meetings, starting a podcast, and reviving its conferences. The next conference, Engage 2024, is eagerly anticipated this October.
The charity expressed its deep appreciation for Cox's dedication and leadership throughout these transformations. They told the outlet: "We are indebted to Steve for his invaluable relationships, his unwavering commitment to our community, and his support for our team. His departure will surely be felt."
In a post on X, Christians in Media posted a photo of Cox and Charlwood with a quote from Charlwood saying: "Steve has competently steered the ship through a changing landscape and I am honoured to be receiving the reins from him."
Charlwood shared her vision for fostering unity and support among Christians in the media sector. She said: "My aim is to bridge divides and foster reconciliation within media. I'm excited to continue Steve’s good work in navigating our charity through the evolving media landscape. My prayer is that we can empower more Christians within media to reflect God’s Kingdom on earth."
Christians in Media is gearing up for further growth with new trustees joining the team. The organisation encourages its community to engage with them through social media platforms, participate in their active Facebook group of 850 members, and stay updated via their website.
