A skywriting plane painted the skies above Sydney in Australia with the words as revellers joined the 40th Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival below.
The stunt took place at approximately 5pm, as more than 12,000 people took part in the parade along the city's well-known Oxford Street and many more turned out to watch.
It received a mix reaction on social media, with one Twitter user writing: "Hey to the person who paid someone to write 'Jesus Saved [sic]' in the sky on Mardi Gras.
"Guess what, you've already lost and we are too busy dancing to I'm coming out."
But, referring to the plane's pilot another person: "What a champion. Hats off to whoever paid for it. Democracy in action."
Approximately 200 floats take part in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras procession, which was guarded over by more than 1,000 police officers.
