Sir Rod Stewart's new home blessed by priest to rid spirits

The Scottish singer and his model wife will celebrate 10 years of marriage in 2017.

They had planned to renew their vows in Italy next year but have revealed they have done it in secret a year early.

Speaking to Hello magazine, Penny Lancaster said: "I wanted the priest to bless the house because I felt there was a lot of history and old spirits there: we wanted to say thank you to the old and welcome in the new.

"So we walked into the garden, under the largest oak tree there, and we said our vows again, just Rod, myself and the priest. It was beautiful."

The couple are said to church goers when at home in Edinburgh. Their children were both baptised at South Leith Parish Church and the singer is said to have donated money to help pay for repairs on the building.

In a world of fake news there’s never been a greater need for quality Christian journalism. Premier’s mission is to provide the Church with the most up to date and relevant news, told from a Christian perspective. But we can’t do it without you.

Unlike many websites we haven't put up a paywall — we want to keep our journalism free at the point of need and as open as we can. For a monthly gift of $11 or more we’d also be able to send you a free copy of the brand new Premier Bible, a wonderful Anglicised version of the NLT packed with exclusive bonus content, reading plan and resources to help you get the most out of scripture.

Your monthly support will make a world of difference. Thank you.
