Search on for owner of 120-year-old Welsh Bible found in skip

by Eno Adeogun

David Green was given the Bible in 2011 by a friend of his father-in-law, who did home clearances in Dorset.

It was hoped Green - who speaks some Welsh, would be able to translate it but he was unable to. He has now shared pictures of the holy book in a bid to find its rightful owner.

He said in a series of tweets: "Can anybody help us reunite this old Welsh Bible with its family? My father-in-law was given it after a house clearance in Dorset in about 2011: I was the only Welsh-speaker he knew!

"It's huge and has some beautiful illustrations.

"There are some hints to the family. The 'family' pages have been completed to 1939: the family lived in and around Bridgend."

The barrister, who lives in London but went to school in north Wales, said he would be willing to donate it to "somewhere fitting" if the owner of someone with a family connection can't be found.

He said in another tweet: "We don't mind where it goes, so long as it finds a good and appropriate home - we feel it's under-appreciated here, as my wife doesn't speak Welsh, mine isn't very good, and it's just a curio!"
