Rev Georgina Byrne, Residentiary Canon at Worcester Cathedral, is set to become the youngest of 35 honorary chaplains to serve Her Majesty.
Rev Byrne, who will hold the position in addition to her role at the Cathedral, said: "I feel extremely privileged to have been honoured in this way.
"The letter from Buckingham Palace arrived, like a very special gift, just before Christmas and I've been smiling ever since."
She is the first Chaplain to the Queen in the Diocese of Worcester since the Venerable Frank Bentley, former Archdeacon of Worcester.
The Bishop of Worcester, Dr John Inge, said: "Canon Georgina Byrne is an outstanding priest and I am delighted that this has been recognised by Her Majesty the Queen.
"The great honour bestowed on her is good news for us at the Cathedral and in the Diocese: we can all bask in reflected glory."
Chaplains to the Queen wear a scarlet cassock and a special bronze badge, and occasionally preach in the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace in London.
The Dean of Worcester, the Very Rev Peter Atkinson, said: "All at Worcester Cathedral will be delighted by the news of this honour for a popular and respected member of the cathedral community."
The Queen chooses her own honorary chaplains, following a nomination which is generally made by the candidate's diocesan bishop and the Bishop of Carlisle, the Rt Rev James Newcome.
Bishop James currently holds the position of Clerk of the Closet and, as such, is head of the College of Chaplains of the Ecclesiastical Household.
