Prayer app reaches 33 million posts

Instapray was founded in January 2013 by Fryderyk Ovcaric, a Polish graduate of Stanford University in California.

The app has users from 195 different countries around the world, and has a five-star rating on both the Android and Apple download sites.

It's similar to Twitter, and presents a list of posts which constantly updates. Like Twitter, users can 'follow' other people to see their posts, and they can "repray" prayers they want to re-publish for other users to see, in the same way Twitter users "retweet" posts.

Posts are grouped by different categories, for example 'scriptures' or 'family', to make them easier to find. Instapray users can also click the "around you" button, which shows people who are posting prayers close to where you are.

Mr Ovcaric said: "I wanted to create a shared space where people could join together in prayer, encouragement, and support for one another and the world around them.

"I dreamt of a community where everyone is welcome and accepted, free to explore their faith and spirituality without fear of retribution. A safe place where people could give and receive help."
