Pope flies home after Asia tour

The pontiff departed from the Philippines after attracting six million people to an open air mass, something the Vatican said was a record.

As Francis boarded a plane carrying his own bag children shouted "Pope Francis we love you".

Hundreds of thousands of people had lined the streets to say goodbye to the Pope.

One woman said: "He's my number one world leader, he rides on a bus. He flew to Tacloban to visit the typhoon survivors despite the storm and he stops to talk to the poor. He's a living saint."

The Holy Father also spent time in Sri Lanka during his trip to Asia.
