One in seven children bullying online

by Desmond Busteed

A survey for Safer Internet Day also found about two in five are targeting others online, so they don't get bullied themselves or said it was because of peer pressure.

Today more than 100 countries worldwide, including all 28 countries of the European Union, are celebrating Safer Internet Day (SID) for the twelfth year running.

The theme of Safer Internet Day 2015 is "Let's create a better internet together", inviting children and young people, parents and carers, teachers and educators, or industry and politicians to work together to build a better internet for all.

Simon Bass, CEO, Churches Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS) believes churches should be at the forefront of the campaign, speaking to Premier's News Hour, he said: "It's about togetherness, it's about ensuring that there is that dialogue and conversation.

"That parents don't negate their responsibility, that churches don't negate their responsibility because their concerned about not being so technically savvy as children because in actual fact what they bring to the party is the wisdom and the experience that years bring."

Simon Bass, CEO, CCPAS:

A Monthly Gift Of $11 Makes A World Of Difference

In a world of fake news there’s never been a greater need for quality Christian journalism. Premier’s mission is to provide the Church with the most up to date and relevant news, told from a Christian perspective. But we can’t do it without you.

Unlike many websites we haven't put up a paywall — we want to keep our journalism free at the point of need and as open as we can. Premier’s news output takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. No one in the USA is sharing news like we are across radio, magazines and online so please help us to continue that today.

For a monthly gift of $11 or more we’d also be able to send you a free copy of the brand new Premier Bible, a wonderful Anglicised version of the NLT packed with exclusive bonus content, reading plan and resources to help you get the most out of scripture.

Your monthly support will make a world of difference. Thank you.
