An online study has revealed that 20% of young teenagers use illegal websites to keep up with what their older friends or siblings are watching.
The research has been carried out by the British Board of Film Classification and the Industry Trust for IP Awareness and included 1,000 11 to 15 year olds.
A quarter of those asked said their parents had no idea what they were watching.
New technology means that younger teenagers can watch films with 15 or 18 certificates online.
