'Not enough' action is being taken says Christian charity as 20 Christian men executed in Nigeria

Islamic State says it has executed 20 Christian men in Nigeria, claiming the attack is a warning to Christians around the world.

The terror group released a video showing the mass execution, with some being beheaded, and others shot.

The speaker in the video says the killings are revenge for the killing of IS's former leader in Syria in February.

Ayo Adedoyin, CEO of International Organisation for Peace-building & Social Justice (PSJ UK) for Open Doors told Premier Christian news that more needs to be done to protect Christians in the country.

They said: "There is an increased amount of interest and action, but still not enough.

"I mean, in fairness, there's all sorts of things going on in Nigeria, and this Christian persecution is mixed in to that whole tapestry and somewhat, it's allowed governments to gaslight, the Christian communities.

"This is making it seem as though that's not really the case.

"But increasingly, unfortunately, with these incidences, carrying on, more people are waking up and realising that they really have to do something about this."

Adedoyin went onto to quote the Book of Amos, which reads: 'Woe to them who put a far a day of destruction.'

Adedoyin said: "Irrespective of what the motivation is, it's terrible that so many atrocities are going on all over Nigeria.

"But there is clearly targeted persecution of Christian men, in this case, Christian communities, particularly in the middle belt of Nigeria, that's really just so tragic."
