Evangelical Focus editor Joel Forster took on Spaniard Alejandro Cao, representative of Cultural Relations of North Korea with Foreign Countries over the issue on the social media website.
When Forster asked Cao about Christian persecution under the country's leader Kim Jong UN, Cao replied: "It is absolutely false. The problem in the world is that there are enlightened people like you who believe themselves to be representatives of God or even God."
Cao also took a swipe at evangelicals: "You take advantage of drug addicts and homeless people to force them to become evangelists in exchange of a plate of soup."
Cao, works in Spain as an IT consultant, and is also the president of the Korean Friendship Association, a recognised government body.
North Korea has been accused by a number of persecution watchdog groups of being the worst place in the world for Christians.
Open Doors USA rank North Korea as number 1 on its World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most persecution for 13 consecutive years.
South Korea is still technically at war with the North but they have an armistice, or what can be called a cease-fire.
The U.N. based in South Korea claims the North is responsible for "unspeakable atrocities" on its own people.
