Firefighters were called to a blaze outside the church where replicas of Mary and Joseph, Jesus and model animals had been set alight.
Members of the congregation had worked on creating the display for several weeks and despite the attack, agreed to carry on with their Christingle service last night.
Instead of the life-size statues, the church's vicar and another member of church staff stood in as live models for the service.
It's not the first time the church has been targeted - a new sign outside the church was also attacked a few days earlier.
Despite around £500 worth of damage to the church, Revd Jenny Elliot has been determined to remain positive and said it was now about "keeping in the spirit of the season".
