A Bishop, who led a life of crime and drugs before meeting Jesus, is transforming his life again - this time by swapping his house for a mobile caravan.

Mick Fleming, pastor of Church on the Streets, says he felt called to “travel light” like Jesus.

“I scraped some money together and managed to buy a campervan, gave my house away and my possessions,” he told Premier Christian News.

“It seems like a great adventure until you have to do it! I thought ‘Oh, there’s a few practicalities,’” Fleming joked.

He will now lead a ‘Church on Wheels’, travelling around the country to areas where he feels people are most in need of hearing the Gospel.

Before encountering Christ, Fleming was feared on the streets for his involvement with drugs gangs.

He shared with Premier that this new chapter has brought him “back to the heart of the people.”

Fleming recalled one encounter which has already happened, where he felt led by the Spirit to travel five miles out of his way, and came across a pair of young men whose motorbike had broken down.

He was able to give them a lift, and share the gospel message with them.

“That’s what Jesus does,” he said, “he travels miles out of the way to meet us where we are.”
