Man charged over £10,000 church damage

It is reported that a number of stained glass windows were smashed at the Grade I listed Church of St John the Baptist in the city centre, while an oak door was also damaged.

The 30-year-old was arrested on Monday after the police were called to investigate a separate report of damage to a shop window.

He was later charged with two counts of criminal damage.

The man has appeared before Coventry Magistrates' Court and has been remanded in custody.

He is due to appear before the city's Crown Court next month.
