The YouGov poll saw people select from a list which things they associate with Easter.
Chocolate eggs come out on top, with more than 3 in 4 respondents associating them with Easter.
Bank holidays came in second with more than 2 in 3 surveyed associating them with the Christian festival, with hot-cross buns in third place as 62 per cent linked them them with the period.
More than half of respondents (55 per cent) selected Jesus from the list.
The poll comes amid several Easter-related controversies.
Asda and Sainsbury have come under fire from some for refusing to sell an Easter egg which contains a booklet explaining the real meaning of Easter: Jesus' death on the cross for humanity's sins and his resurrection three days later.
The Church of England accused the National Trust of "airbrushing faith" after it dropped the word 'Easter' from its Easter egg hunts across its various heritage sites.
And Tesco apologised after it used the term 'Good Friday' to help it sell alcohol.
Their advert said: "Great offers on beer and cider. Good Friday just got better."
