Jesus "airbrushed" from Christmas stamps

by Aaron James

Royal Mail released them on Tuesday and there are no Biblical references on them.

Designed by Manchester-based artist Helen Musselwhite, the stamps (below) feature various festive images including a robin, a Christmas pudding and a snowman.

She told the BBC she was "immensely proud" to illustrate them.

Royal Mail releases Christmas stamps with the Nativity or other Biblical references every other year (2015 stamps, below), but some have called for all of it's stamps to have Christian imagery.

Speaking on Premier's News Hour, Francis Goodwin said: "They should respect Christmas is a Christian festival and honour it in that way.

"It's disappointing in what's supposed to be a Christian country.

"It's just another example of society trying to airbrush Jesus out of Christmas."
