Mr Meacher passed away last month at the age of 75 after a short illness.
Speaking after the news of his death emerged, fellow Christian Labour MP Stephen Timms said: "He saw his politics as being entirely rooted in his Christian convictions.
"He wasn't somebody who stood up in the chamber of the House of Commons and talked about his faith, or referred to specific scriptures, but it was very clear speaking to him, that it was in Christian faith that his politics had its roots, and his life had its roots."
