Jail for man who burgled church

Brian Harding, 44, pleaded guilty to burglary at Isleworth Crown Court on May 18 and has been sentenced to one year and seven months imprisonment.

He was caught on CCTV squeezing through a locked gate to gain entry to a gallery at the Polish Catholic Church on Windsor Road, Ealing, before stealing a laptop.

Three months of his term is for theft, after he admitted stealing a bike from a nearby street.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Richard Thomas, said: "The sentence handed down today will ensure our communities are protected from further offending by Harding.

"We will continue to target those responsible for burglary and theft across the borough."
