Italian PM promises to rebuild church after quake

by Hannah Tooley

Matteo Renzi said that the fixing the church is a symbol of putting "Europe back together."

ANSA reported that the leader said restoring a religious building is a way to unite people.

Following the earthquake the Italian bishops' conference provided the government with a list of churches that need repairs.

The conference said churches are a place of "gathering, recognition, and celebration" and will work to restore identity to the region.

Since August Italy has been hit with a number of deadly earthquakes, the strongest with a 6.6-magnitude tremor that struck on October 30th.
