Pop star Justin Bieber posted a heartfelt message to Instagram over the weekend thanking Jesus for his forgiveness and urging others to turn to Jesus for hope.
Bieber, 26, posted the message following the emergence of a sexual assault allegation against him on Twitter. He has flatly denied the claim, which allegedly occurred back in March 2014 after the singer made a surprise appearance at South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.
"This story is factually impossible," Bieber tweeted on 22nd June, before highlighting a number of discrepancies in the alleged victim's story via a Twitter thread. “There is no truth to this story," he added, noting that he was not even staying at the hotel in which the claimant alleged the assault took place.
The woman who accused Bieber has since taken down her tweet and deleted her account.
In his latest Instagram post, Bieber thanked God for forgiving him of things he'd done in the past. In recent times he has been open about his former battle with drugs and promiscuity.
He wrote: "Thank you Jesus for my life. Thank you for your forgiveness! Thank you for showing me I am enough! Thank you that I no longer have to carry shame but can walk with my chest up and head held high knowing I am loved, chosen, and forgiven!
"If you struggle with your past give it to Jesus! He isn’t burdened by it! He loves you and is honored to know all of little details good and bad in your life! He isn’t angry with you, he wants the best for you!"
