The actor, Gerard Butler, has swapped the glamour of Hollywood to congratulate and support the Christian charity, Mary’s Meals.

Mary’s Meals aims to provide one good meal to some of the world’s poorest children every day and is named after Mary, Mother of Jesus, who brought up her own child in poverty.

The actor was speaking after the charity announced it has reached the milestone of now being able to feed two-million children every school day across the world :

“I personally am so proud to be a supporter of Mary’s Meals because I’ve seen first-hand the joy and hope it brings to children’s lives. And it really does show that food in a child’s place of education does change the story.”

The charity works in 19 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. It says it's aiming to continue building on its success, 19 years after the charity's work first began.

Before the pandemic, Gerard Butler visited Haiti and Liberia to make a special film "Love Reaches Everywhere" https://www.youtube.com/embed/hSrw2fL1fOU highlighting the work of Mary’s Meals.
