Founder and president of Gospel for Asia (GFA), Dr KP Yohannan, has passed away at the age of 74 due to a cardiac arrest, as announced by the organisation on social media.

According to Gospel for Asia, the evangelist passed away in a hospital in Texas while recovering from a car accident earlier this week.

"We praise God for allowing His servant the strength to run his race faithfully and with much endurance to the very end," GFA stated in the announcement.

"Millions of lives are forever transformed because of his tireless passion and service unto his Savior. May God receive him into the embrace of the saints. Christ is risen! May his memory be eternal!"

Dr. Yohannan, born in South India in 1950, was the youngest of six sons and spent the last 40 years spreading the Good News across the globe. His radio program, Spiritual Journey, has reached over 1 billion people in 110 languages, and he was a prolific writer with over 200 books published in Asia and twelve in the US.

The 74-year-old founded Gospel for Asia in 1979. Recently, they faced legal issues regarding finances. In 2019, they settled for $37 million, with GFA denying wrongdoing.

Dr Yohannan is survived by his wife, Gisela, his son Daniel, daughter Sarah and seven grandchildren.
