"God I praise you" - athlete qualifies for Olympics despite serious injury

by Antony Bushfield

Sprinter English Gardner fell to her knees after breaking records in the 100 metre race at the U.S Olympic trials in Oregon.

"Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus," she shouted.

She took part in the race eight years after a devastating knee injury.

Doctors told Gardner at the time she may never compete in competitive sports again.

"Oh God I praise you," she exclaimed. "I give you so much glory. Thank you Jesus."

A video of her celebration has gone viral online with almost two million views.

The 24-year-old will now compete for the United States on the track in this year's Olympics in Rio.
