‘God has heard our prayers, join us in praising Him’: Billy Graham’s granddaughter to go home after suffering two heart attacks

by Kelly Valencia

The granddaughter of the late evangelist Billy Graham, Rachel-Ruth Lotz, has been discharged from hospital after suffering two heart attacks for unknown reasons.

Together with a picture of Rachel-Ruth looking at the sunrise from a hospital bed, her mother, Anne Graham-Lotz, shared the update, praising God for having “heard and answered our prayers”.

“This picture was taken today at sunrise—the day Rachel-Ruth is scheduled to go home! God has heard and answered our prayers! Join us in praising Him! He has surely been an ever-present help in times of trouble,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

Earlier this week, Graham-Lotz had urged people to pray for her daughter following two heart attacks. At the time, doctors were unable to identify the cause and suggested Rachel-Ruth might have “broken heart syndrome”.

But in her latest update, Graham-Lotz said cardiologists have diagnosed Rachel-Ruth with SCAD, Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection.

“[SCAD] is extremely serious and resulted in her two heart attacks. Like the sunrise, the Light of God's presence, compassion, wisdom and peace have been present in this darkness,” she wrote.

Graham-Lotz concluded her post by encouraging people to continue to pray for her daughter.

“Our ongoing prayer now is for Rachel-Ruth to recover her strength, health, and never again have any heart related issues. Thank you for praying with us.

“‘I will sing of Your strength, in the morning I will sing of Your love; for You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble, ‘Psalm 59:16.”
