Fresh bid to share Gospel in the digital age

A new digital evangelist will be also be trying to build on efforts to provide sermons, podcasts and other online material believers can access on-the-go and share with non-Christians.

The position is opening up at Church of England which is looking for someone to "take risks for the Gospel in exploring how digital engagement can lead to spiritual and numerical growth."

Speaking to Premier, Director of Communications at the Church of England, Arun Arora, said: "We are really excited about the prospect of entering into the digital space intentionally and fully.

"[We are excited] about the conversations that we can have and the way we can talk about Jesus with hope, joy and confidence."

According to the Church of England, internet users have increasingly had access to online videos, podcasts and social media content from the Church but it now wants parishes around the country to be part of a "paradigm changes in how the church engages with the digital space."

The new Head of Digital Communications position, which has a salary of £60,000-£65,000, forms part of the Church of England's strategy, the Renewal and Reform programme.

Leaders say the role, which is a first for the Church of England, compromises of three streams; digital evangelism, digital discipleship and digital campaign.
