Four people have been arrested after the death of a man in church grounds in Wigan.
Police were called by the ambulance service to reports of concerns for a man in the gardens of Wigan Parish Church shortly before 7.50pm on Thursday.
The 34-year-old victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Three men, aged 18, 19 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
An 18-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses that saw a group of men, or anyone acting suspiciously, in the area between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Butterworth, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the victim and his family after this devastating incident.
"Our specialist officers are working closely with them at this time.
"We have made four swift arrests but are keen to ensure we hear from every possible witness of this incident so that we accurately piece together the circumstances leading up to the victim's tragic passing."
