Former US Vice President Mike Pence is joining Colorado Christian University as a visiting faculty member.
The private evangelical university announced that Pence will teach on constitutional government, public policy and leadership during the 2026-27 academic year.
Pence is expected to visit the university's Lakewood campus around once a month, taking part in lectures, classroom discussions and other events with students.
“Throughout my years in public service, I have seen the importance of preparing leaders who understand that faith, freedom, character and constitutional government are inseparable from the future of America,” Pence said in a statement.
The appointment builds on an existing relationship between the former vice president and the university. Pence previously took part in an online summer course alongside faculty members exploring the history, principles and modern application of American conservatism.
Pence, an evangelical Christian, served as vice president during Donald Trump's first administration from 2017 to 2021.
The pair's relationship fractured following the 2020 presidential election, when Pence rejected Trump's calls for him to prevent the certification of Joe Biden's election victory. Pence was at the US Capitol when it was attacked by Trump supporters on 6th January 2021.
Since leaving office, Pence has remained outspoken about his Christian faith. In 2023, he publicly backed the Asbury Revival, which saw thousands travel to Asbury University in Kentucky after a student worship service developed into days of continuous prayer and worship.
Pence said at the time that he had been “deeply moved” by the revival and revealed that his own Christian conversion had links to Asbury.
“As a college student, I too travelled to Asbury in 1978 for a Christian music festival. There it was as though I heard the gospel for the very first time. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and my life has never been the same,” he said at the time.
Pence unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2023, before withdrawing from the race.
