Peterborough’s first female Bishop, the Right Reverend Debbie Sellin will preach live at a BBC broadcasted Pentecost service on Sunday.
Taking place at All Saints' Church in Northampton, the service will celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. The Bishop of Peterborough will preach a sermon and the service will be led by Father Oliver Coss.
Bishop Debbie was consecrated as the 39th Bishop of Peterborough at Peterborough Cathedral in March.
Originally from Scotland, Bishop Debbie was ordained in the Guildford Diocese in 2008, was the Bishop of Southampton from 2019-2023 and Acting Bishop of Winchester from 2021-2023.
She said she was delighted to be asked to preach at the “joyous feast of Pentecost” and “to share God’s love with the community, as well as all who watch the broadcast.”
Rector of All Saints, Father Oliver Coss said: “We look forward to celebrating Pentecost together and do hope that worshippers from across the Diocese can join us too.”
The BBC broadcast live church services three times a year, to celebrate Christmas, Easter and Pentecost.
No tickets are required and doors open at 9.30am. You can watch the broadcast live on BBC One on Sunday at 10.30am and on iPlayer.
