Ex-Methodist minister convicted of sexually abusing four boys

John Price from Ash Tree Close in Bedale was found guilty after a trial at Teesside Crown Court of 13 counts of indecent assault.

Judge Howard Crowson adjourned sentencing until 13th June in order to hear from a GP about the defendant's health and how prison might affect him.

Remanding Price in custody, the judge warned him jail time was evitable and medical evidence would only affect the length of sentence, if at all.

The attacks, which targeted boys aged between eleven and 17, took place at Price's manse, in the vestry or at the boy's homes while he was a minister in York or Pocklington.

The 82 year old was prevented from using his Rev title after receiving a conviction for a similar offence in 1999.

Price engineered ways by which he could spend time alone with the boys before indecently assaulting then. The court heard none of his victims were actually hypnotised but froze in horror and surprise at what was happening.

Price denied molesting the youngsters and said he had done nothing to be ashamed of.
