Elon Musk is causing some eyebrows to raise after encouraging his followers to attend church.
The billionaire founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and CEO of the social media platform X, f previously identified as an atheist and now is what he calls a “cultural Christian.”
He’s has caused a stir after reposting a message from the recent widow turned CEO of Turning Point USA, Erika Kirk, on Sunday, who posted, “Go to church.”
In 2022, Musk notoriously responded to a post from an X user who urged him to confess to a Creator before his last heartbeat after Musk tweeted a series of disturbing tweets about dying under “mysterious circumstances.”
“Thank you for the blessing, but I’m ok with going to hell, if that is indeed my destination, since the vast majority of all humans ever born will be there,” Musk said.
As the Christian Post reports, Musk said in an interview with Jordan Peterson, “While I’m not a particularly religious person, I do believe that the teachings of Jesus are good and wise and that there’s tremendous wisdom in turning the other cheek.”
Musk’s repost, however, has been met with some criticism. Critics argue that his pivot to Christianity is nothing more than a political maneuver to appease America’s conservative population.
“A cig**ette in a hand doesn’t make a sinner, just like a Bible in a hand doesn’t make a saint,” an X user reportedly replied.
“The five stages of grift,” said another.
The timing of Musk’s repost comes days after a gunman crashed into a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Grand Blanc Township before opening fire and setting the building on fire with gasoline.
The gunman killed four people and wounded. Investigators say the suspect was harboring hatred for the Mormon faith.
On Sept. 10, a gunman assassinated Charlie Kirk while speaking at the first stop of his American Comeback College Tour.
