A church in Doncaster that has been subject to seven burglaries in recent months has been offered free security services.
Keep Safe & Secure has gifted four weeks of free security oversight to St John The Evangelist Church in Balby, Doncaster, after a burglar repeatedly targeted its food bank, smashing a historic stained glass windows in one entry.
CCTV footage showed the individual entering the church through a 175-year-old stained-glass window and rifling through donations, before leaving through the same window.
James Michie from the Leeds-based security firm told BBC Look North the break-ins were causing a strain on the church’s finances.
"I just can't understand why the kid keeps doing it. At the end of the day you can walk through the door and get a couple of loaves or whatever clothes you need.
"There's no point breaking in and causing this much damage... and the church is having to pay out with the insurance excess."
Rev Derek Pamment said at the time of the last break-in: "Talk to us, we would love to work through whatever's driving this.
"We don't want any harm, I would willingly go with them to the police, sit with them and support them."
