Coronavirus survivor says Jesus rescued him from death

Coronavirus survivor speaks of Jesus rescuing him from death

A Christian man who contracted covid 19 has spoken of his brush with death and his prayer for God to save him.

Hospital security guard Jaweed Ahmed didn't think he would survive the illness as he fought for his life at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Ahmed described how he felt God reach him out of what seemed like a dark tunnel surrounded by the "smell of death", as he lay in hospital.

"I shouted Jesus to come to rescue me. Someone grabbed hold of me round the waist and lifted me up, away from the dark and into the light," he told Yorkshire Live.

The father of three from Marsh believes he contracted the virus whilst working at the hospital. Once it was confirmed that Ahmed had tested positive for coronavirus he was placed on a breathing machine and given oxygen as his condition continued to deteriorate.

As fears of death plagued his mind, Ahmed says he found strength in his faith in God: "Every day when my body wasn't coping I thought, 'I'm not going to make it'. But I am a Christian. Because of my faith I thought, 'I need to pull out of this'. It was like fighting a giant," he said.

Ahmed claims it was his beliefs that "got him through" and explained that he'd been given a second chance at life that he didn't plan to waste. He is now recovering at home with his family.
