Conference marks women bishops in Wales

The Rt Rev Geralyn Wolf, former Bishop of Rhode Island and the Rt Rev Gayle Harris, the Suffragen Bishop of Massachusetts, will be attending. 

'Crossing the Threshold' is being held at St. Michael's College in Cardiff, followed by a service at Llandaff Cathedral.

The event marks almost one year since the historic vote passed legislation to allow women bishops within the Church of Wales. 

A new Code of Practice is being launched to accompany the new law on 12th September. 

The Rt Rev Geralyn Wolf tells Premier future women bishops will need "a real love and passion" for the church.

She adds, "You have to have a deep spiritual life and a strong relationship with Christ. Those are the most important attributes."

"I'll be talking about bishops as public figures, as private figures and as prayerful figures.

"As well as how as professional people we can draw all those things together in an effective ministry."
