The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland said she stands with Glaswegian parishioners mourning the loss of their church building, which was destroyed in a fire last week.
Pollokshaws Parish Church went up in flames in the early hours of Sunday, 7th December.
Rt Rev Rosie Frew was visibly emotional as she joined members of the community at the site.
She told congregants that the Church of Scotland is "grieving" a beloved place, which served the community for 182 years.
“We often hear it said and sung: 'the church is not a building, the church is a people,’” she said. "But people need a gathering place, and this has been your gathering place, the gathering place for this community since 1843.”
Those gathered prayed for comfort, strength and guidance in the coming weeks.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
