Church of Christ minister charged for crimes against minors

by Premier Journalist

Josh Henley, an Oklahoma minister in the Church of Christ, has been arrested on multiple charges of rape, sexual battery, exploitation, and other crimes.

Before Henley’s arrest, he worked at Washington Avenue Church of Christ in Evansville, Indiana. Washington Avenue terminated Henley’s employment immediately after his arrest.

The 32-year-old Henley has served as a preacher and youth minister at several different Church of Christ campuses within the United States. He has also been the director of camp sessions in Oklahoma. He’s had a lengthy ministry history.

Several girls have reported that Henley assaulted them while the minister was at Holladay Elementary School and the accompanying church. One complaint submitted claims that Henley assaulted the girl while traveling with the girl’s family, while another provided alleged video footage.

Henley was arrested on June 18th for four Tennessee state charges: three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and one count of aggravated sexual battery. The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee will also charge Henley for sexual exploitation of a minor, receipt-distribution-possession of child sexual exploitation material, enticement and solicitation of minor and interstate transportation of a minor to engage in criminal sexual conduct.

Henley intends to plead “not guilty,” according to a statement provided by his lawyer.
