While research in 2017 suggested 61 per cent of the UK regularly donated - new figures produced in a report by marketing and media agency TMH suggest 87 per cent of believers give often.
Of that number - half give once a week.
Of the 13 per cent who don't give to charity - three quarters of them do give money to their church.
In terms of where the money goes, religious charities and those that support young people and the homeless were the most popular causes while Cancer Research was the best supported organisation.
Emma Tinsley, Managing Director at TMH said: "For Christians, giving to charity is part of their religion.
"For many charitable organisations it is an untapped audience and one which they struggle to effectively engage and connect with.
"Our experience and insight into the media habits and donating patterns of the UK Christian population shows that, with the right message through the right channel, charities and churches can successfully reach and engage with this large donor base."
