At least five Christians are reported to have been killed during protests in northern Uganda. Violence erupted after a video circulated online calling for people to protest over reports that a Christian was planning to set up a restaurant selling pork near a mosque in the town of Yumbe.

The man leading the protest, Sheikh Kasim Abdalla said the demonstrators were standing up for “respect of Islamic and cultural values.”

It’s reported that more people were injured after the police used live rounds to stop the protests.

Members of Koboko Baptist Church, the Church of Uganda and New Revival Church Yumbe are believed to be among the dead.
