Christian views on sexuality labelled 'abhorrent' by Philip Schofield

Joshua Sutcliffe, who recently faced discipline for 'misgendering' a pupil during one of his lessons, appeared on ITV's This Morning along with Andrea Williams from the Christian Legal Centre which is supporting him.

After a brief discussion on his situation, the conversation turned onto the wider transgender debate.

Williams explained how instead of changing school rules, helping children on a one to one basis was the best way to deal with the issue.

"The kindest thing we can do is to help the child with the gender identity disorder - and help them to live in the body that they have."

Responding to that statement, Schofield said: "If they were homosexual would you help them not to be homosexual?"

She answered: "Very often when we see children identifying as homosexual, it is not good for them to live out in a such a lifestyle.

"It's not good for our children to be highly sexualised."

Schofield said he was finding the interview "abhorrent" and finished the segment by stating the show would be returning to 2017 rather than "medieval Britain".

Earlier in the day Andrea Williams had a smoother ride when appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan.

Discussing the Church of England's guidance on allowing boys to dress in girls clothing at school, the controversial presenter defended those who disagreed with the new recommendations.

He said: "I've got a six-year-old girl, she doesn't know what gender identity is, yet teachers are now asking a five-year-old child "how are you feeling today? Do you feel male or female?" It's not about judgment, it's about having some sort of boundaries."
