It was part of a national campaign called Washday that encouraged practical social action during Lent and Holy Week. The idea behind it was to teach the children about the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.
The scheme follows on from the school's '40 Acts', a national programme that encouraged people to commit to at least one act of kindness for each day of Lent.
During the day the youngest pupils washed the school buildings and the older pupils ventured into the village to clean up.
Jill Edmonds organised the day. She told Premier: "We're trying to get the children to understand how Jesus by washing his disciples feet showed that he was a servant, and his love and care for other people."
"Instead of washing feet we're going to take the idea of washing and cleaning and they're going to go out into our village and do litter picking and cleaning around school and all around the school grounds."
