Christian school hopes to fly up Christmas album chart

by Aaron James

Students from Manor Church of England Academy have called it The Light - the theme given to them for their Christmas reflections this year.

All proceeds from the album are going to York Air Ambulance after one of its rescue crews saved a pupil's life after he fell 15 feet during a break time in October.

After his rescue he received prayers from across the city and the world and is now making a significant recovery.

The Light was written and performed by pupils at Manor Academy and has six worship songs as well as a podcast.

While pupils there make a Christmas song every year, this is the first time they've made a full album.

Speaking on Premier's News Hour Dave Lowe, Manor Academy's Director of Music, said: "In terms of the topic 'light', it does have such a massive impact on the lives of people, whether they know the Lord or not.

"Light is incredibly, incredibly important in an age where this is so much darkness in the world.

"The kids that we've been working with on this have been genuinely inspired by everything, so what I'd like to happen is for the music to reach as many people as possible around the world, so they can be encouraged, and know there is somebody looking after everybody."

The Light is available for pre-order on iTunes on Wednesday before a full release on December 5th.
