A Christian charity that works with churches and Christian organisations to teach good safeguarding practice and help those who've suffered abuse has been named the best charity to work for in 2020.
Thirtyone:eight was named overall best charity to work for by Third Sector, a publication about charity work, and the Best Companies Group, who rank the quality of teamwork in all kinds of industries.
Thirtyone:eight is based in Swanley in Kent and has 36 employees and works with churches to improve their knowledge of safeguarding practice and looks into serous failings, such as through the Independent Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse.
Steve Ball, the joint-chief executive, said: "We're absolutely delighted… with such a high standard across the board, we're so pleased to be recognised in this way alongside so many great causes. We believe our Christian values as an organisation are an integral part of the culture we strive to create here at Thirtyone:eight, and we've been so encouraged to see this acknowledged independently in this way."
He likened the charity to an extended family. "We genuinely care for each other and look after each other"
Part one of the assessment consisted of an employee questionnaire, which collected information about each employer's benefits, policies and practice. Part two of the assessment involved a confidential employee satisfaction survey, which was used to evaluate the employees' experience and workplace culture.
Justin Humphreys, the other joint chief executive wrote on Twitter: "I can't tell you how proud I am for Thirtyone:eight to have been recognised by Third sector in this way. We have an amazing team and it is a privilege to lead them."
