Christian rapper DC3 has released a track in response to accusations that a BBC News presenter "hissed" after he said his hero was Jesus Christ.

The MOBO nominee was asked about his heroes by Geeta Guru-Murthy at the end of a live interview, when he responded: “Santan Dave, Kendrick Lamar, most of all Jesus Christ.”

Guru-Murthy’s sharp intake of breath at the end of his response has been interpreted as a negative "hissing" noise by many viewers - a BBC spokesperson told MailOnline that this was “categorically untrue”.

The video shared by DC3, captioned “JESUS CHRIST ON BBC NEWS” has racked up more than 2.4 million views on X

In a social media statement, the presenter denied that it was done with malice and shared the full video of the interview.

“For the record, I was simply breathing in before moving to end the interview. To suggest anything else is just untrue,” Guru-Murthy said.

DC3, also known as Daniel Chenjerai, later told social media followers: “Jesus is Lord. God is good and thank you all for the love.”

On Sunday, the 18-year-old rapper released a music video in response to the incident titled “DID YOU SEE?”

It featured a clip of his appearance on the BBC, stating “the revolution will be televised”.

“Young me would get mad cause TV took the Lord's name in vain. Checkmate, guess now I’ve won,” is one of the lyrics declaring his faith and standing by his decision to make it clear during the interview.

DC3 won Best Newcomer at the Premier Gospel Awards 2025.

He is now up for Best Newcomer and Best Gospel Act at the MOBO awards, to be held in March.
