Christians protested outside Norwood Primary School in Eastleigh, Hampshire, after the school announced it would not hold its usual Easter celebrations to "respect diverse religious beliefs."
According to The Telegraph, around 50 demonstrators, including members of the Living Word Church, waved banners and flags with messages like "Jesus: the way the truth the life."
They criticised what they saw as the "erasure of Christianity" in schools, with Rev Chris Wickland stating: "We are not [here] to cause trouble," but rather to stand up for Christianity's place in education.
The protest followed a letter from the school’s headteacher, Stephanie Mander, explaining that the school aimed to create a more inclusive atmosphere by not holding Easter-specific celebrations.
While some parents supported the change, others voiced anger over what they saw as a dismissal of Christian traditions.
"We are here to maintain that this [Easter] is part of our culture and traditions," said protester Rob Owen.
Despite the protests, the school clarified that Easter would still be recognised through lessons and activities.
Miss Mander added: "We are exploring alternative ways to celebrate the season in future years, that will be inclusive of all children and reflect the rich cultural diversity of our community."
The protest ended peacefully with no arrests, as police worked to minimise disruption.
