The CEO Sleepout saw hundreds of prominent business, academic, political and charitable leaders camp out in the rain in Charlotte Square, as well as Team GB gold medal-winning cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.
It was to help raise £500,000 for the charity cafe Social Bite, which will use the money to build sheltered accommodation in Edinburgh for 40 homeless people. Planning permission has already been obtained for the site.
Social Bite's raised £162,000 of the money so far.
A quarter of the cafe's staff were rough sleepers and the cafe's had significant celebrity endorsement, with George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Rob Bryden visiting its premises in the city in the last few years.
Marshall Dallas is a Christian and CEO who was at the sleepout, and told Premier's Inspirational Breakfast: "Your life expectancy if you're living in the streets will decrease by thirty years on average.
"If you're a male sleeping rough you're pretty much going to die by the age of 47.
"You're thirteen times more likely to be a victim of violence and much of that is from the general public, and there's a 33 per cent chance you're going to have less than two meals a day.
"When you think about those stats, how could not get involved?"
