Selasi Gbormittah, who also enjoys riding motorbikes, has admitted shedding a tear after being the ninth baker to leave the tent, but has promised fans it is just the beginning of his baking journey.
In the penultimate episode of the competition the contestants were tasked with creating a selection of tasty treats under the theme of Patisserie Week.
But the 30-year-old banker did not impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with his creations.
His salmon, spinach and mushroom, and sun-dried tomato, onion and Parmesan palmiers, made with puff pastry, were accused of being under-baked.
Speaking on Premier's Inspirational Breakfast during biscuit week, Selasi said his secret was to "stay calm and collected, and bake with the heart."
After the show he said: "I was almost at the last hurdle, and then I dropped the ball.
"I can't blame anyone else but myself. I was sorry to be going but also accepted it at the same time."
Selasi has been known as the calm member of the tent, nicknamed "Mr Cool". He said the experience "was more about a bunch of people baking in the tent and having a great time, not a competition".
Paul Hollywood said he was "very proud of Selasi" to get this far, and Mary Berry added that he is a "great character".
He came. He baked. He sweated.

One of his most famous creations was a stain glass church.
Selsai told Premier's Inspirational Breakfast earlier in the competition: "I was raised in the Catholic Church. I grew up going to church every Sunday with my mum and dad and siblings. It's massive in Ghana, to be honest with you.
"I thought it was time to feature that in the [Great British Bake Off] tent."
