The Archdiocese of Liverpool is opening its Catholic clubs to provide a “warm and cosy” space for people needing to shelter.

As the cost of living crisis continues to affect millions of people, including parishes across the country, the Archdiocese will provide coffee, tea, biscuits, lunch and Wi-Fi and TV access for a few hours a day from the end of October until March next year.

"It is about giving people a warm welcome in these difficult times," Jill Boggan, director of finance at Liverpool Archdiocese, told the BBC.

"In many areas we have liaised with other community groups to try and ensure that people have somewhere to go every day during the winter months."

At least 40 parish clubs and church halls have joined the initiative.

The Archdiocese stretches from Liverpool to South Ribble and extends as far east as Wigan Metropolitan Borough.

You can find a list of all the Liverpool Catholic clubs here.

For a monthly gift of $11 or more we’d also be able to send you a free copy of the brand new Premier Bible, a wonderful Anglicised version of the NLT packed with exclusive bonus content, reading plan and resources to help you get the most out of scripture.
